FUNGATE!
In Swahili, "fungate" means honeymoon! After celebrating our wedding with all of you, we flung our newlywed selves off to a continent neither of us had visited before: AFRICA. We'd like to introduce you to a few new characters from our voyage through Tanzania and Zanzibar:
colonel mustard
Our trusty steed through the Selous National Park in southern Tanzania, up to the Udzugwa Mountains, and across the vast Ruaha National Park. Piloted by our Rafiki (friend) Otto, bush guide extrordinaire!
The Lion whisperer
Mapande lead us on a 2 night, 3 day expedition through the Low Jungle terrain up through the ancient Ent Homeland past the Cloud Fern Forest to the rocky top of the Eastern Arc Mountains.
Leopard, the sister of Jaguar
How fitting that we saw a jaguar on the day Mark proposed in the Bolivian Amazon, and then we met this beautiful leopard on our fungate! She was sitting in dappled shade, 3 feet from the dusty road, awaiting us it seemed. She lazily got up and walked a while along the road in front of our safari vehicle (see first picture above!) before finding another shady spot.
